Ideas for blogging1. Have you heard that Google rewards websites that publish the freshest content? The more often you add new information and breaking news, the more likely Google is to rank you favourably in search engines.

If you are the first to write a particular piece of news, you’ll get the most benefit from the post so when you news in print journals, newspapers etc, write about it quickly and get it into your blog straight away.

2. Don’t worry about the length of your posts. Adding new content on a regular basis is more important than writing at length. People will come to your blog have to find specific information. If you can give the information succinctly then that’s a positive.

3. Set your company blogging deadlines. Plan how often you will post and at what time of the week/ month you’ll do so. Add it to a calendar and you will be far more likely to stick to the plan.

4. Create posts to answer common questions. If you are often asked the same question by customers, write a quick blog post that answers the question. Posts don’t have to be long or to involve lots of research and if you are being asked the question regularly, you know you’ll have a receptive audience.

5. Invite guest contributors. This will reduce your burden and is also beneficial to your guest as they will be getting an inbound link to their own website and a new audience amongst your readers.

6. Encourage employees to contribute blog posts regularly. This can give you some great new ideas for posts with a number of people all offering their own thoughts. It can be a good way to get employees to think about what’s important to your customers too.

7. Keep a list of ideas. It can be very productive to jot down possible ideas for blog posts when you think of them and you can write the post later in a quiet period. Save items that are not time specific so you have something to post when you are particularly busy.

8. Publish excerpted from any booklets or guides that you have written. Giving snippets of information that you are willing to share as longer downloads is a great way of creating leads.

9. Include videos and images. If you create an infographic, slideshow, flip-thepage booklet or video, make sure you post these on your blog. These types of content are frequently shared, but only require a quick written introduction.

10. Follow bloggers from your own industry to find ideas for sharing… but beware! Make sure you don’t copy blog posts verbatim. Duplicate content is penalised by the search engines, so get ideas from others, but don’t just copy!
