If you collect any kind of information about visitors to your website, whether from your customers or potential customers, you must register under the Data Protection Act .
This information includes names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses.
You must provide a statement on what you do and intend to do with your subject's data and not deviate from that statement.
The Data protection Act applies to all sizes of business.
You are not permitted to export the personal data you collect outside the EC (European Community) without the express permissionfrom the people you are collecting data on.
You must ensure that all informationyou collect is held securely and you must be reveal or delete the information if requested to do so by the subject of the information.
You must only record data which is pertinent to your business needs.
