Content Management Systems from Chadwick Design
Case Study One - simple CMS:
www.rutlandcottagesonline.co.uk
Two Hoots Cottage is self-catering holiday accommodation in Rutland, close to Rutland Water, Burghley House and Stamford.
Every page of this content management website can be updated by the site owner who may upload images, edit or add text, change the photos within the photo frame at the top of each page and even add extra pages and navigation themselves.
All this is done through an online admin consol which is as simple to use as Microsoft Word - truly a simple CMS website!
The home page has a side bar with picture links which may be updated by the owner. The picture frames can be added automatically to any image uploaded.
The site has a lightbox-style gallery to which new photos may be added via the admin console. Thumbnails are generated automatically, from the full-size image uploaded. There is also an availability calender showing when the cottage is available, booked or booked am or pm.
Searching for "Rutland Holiday Cottages" you will find Two Hoots Cottage [rutlandcottagesonline.co.uk] at the very top of the local search results.
Case Study Two - advance content management system
Best of British Magazine already had a website but one which did not comply with the latest rules for accepting online payments. They came to Chadwick Design looking for secure shopping cart to enable them to sell subscriptions to the Best of British magazine online, along with back issues, books, CDs and gifts on the theme of nostalgia and heritage.
They also wanted a website built to the latest web standards on which they would be able to add sample articles from their own publication and also easily accept memories and stories from their readers for inclusion on the website.
There was also a requirement to sell advertising opportunities.
Best of British Magazine's main features are:
- Secure members log-in
- A members area with ability to upload articles which can be accepted for publishing by a moderator
- Adverts are trackable - each time an advert is viewed this is logged in stats
- Latest News section
- Articles relating to Nostalgia and British Heritage can be added, published or archived
- Business Directory with paid and free listings
- Online poll
- Search engine friendly pages and navigation
- Accessible design with font-size picker so visitors may choose the size of the type they view
